i love the rain, now that i'm home only. PERFECT for snuggling in bed or having a hot cup of tea while reading chick-lit :D but AARGH THE HUMIDITY. all my clothes stink now :( :( and my dryer's now being used as a stand so I can't use that. Is it too lame to use a hair-dryer to dry the clothes?

(was planning to use this as an fb status msg but realised that I'll only be called HW. so decided to go private :P)

my thatha's collected a whole bunch of quotes throughout his life and is regularly sending them to me now. So I want to share some of them:

1. How often does a man ruin his disciples by remaining always with them. When men are trained, it is essential that their leader leaves them, for without his absence, they cannot develop themselves. Plants always remain small under a big tree.

2. People cannot learn by having information pressed into their brains. Knowledge has to be sucked into the brain, not pushed in. First, one must create a state of mind that craves knowledge, interest & wonder. You can teach only by creating an urge to know.

3. Don't go to a doctor who places his stethoscope on your wallet. (:P)

4. Misers are no fun to live with, but they make great ancestors.

5. A conference is a gathering of important people, who singly can do nothing, but together can decide that nothing can be done.

6. The definition of the golden age of anything is when you were there. (awwwwwwwww)

7. Truman's Law: If you can't convince them, confuse them.

8. A specialist is one who knows everything about something & nothing about anything else.

9. Young men are apt to think themselves wise enough,as drunken men are apt to think themselves sober enough.

10.Dont talk unless you can improve the silence.

11. Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.

12.The path to happiness is always under construction.

13. Middle age is when your narrow waist & broad mind exchange places.

14. It is not the hours you put in your work that counts, it is the work you put in the hours.

15. Silence is golden when you cannot think of a good answer.

16. The wise man always seeks to learn. The ignorant man always wants to teach.

17. Mosquitoes receive far more applause than many politicians do. (HAHAHA)

18. Our lives improve only when we take chances & the first & most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves.

19. If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; If we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.

20. If you cannot accept losing, you can't win.

29 October 2010

found this meme from 2007 somewhere in my comp :P decided to post it here since my blog is so dead..

Selection criteria for future partner hehe:

most important physical characteristics:

1. Bigger than me - especially height. Ideally 5-10cm taller than me coz if he's too tall, he'll be difficult to hug :P It's just weird if he's shorter. How will I ever feel safe and protected then? That's why bigger, in general. Not some dhanush-kucchi-type also but with shoulders broader than my already broad ones and with a bit of flesh at least.

2. Elegant hands/fingers. I've always liked the hands of guys who play musical instruments like the piano and stuff coz it's beautiful to see how elegant they look. And hands bigger than mine to again, make me feel safe. I love seeing a girl's slender fingers entwined with a guy's protective ones. One of those hopeless-romantic-traits that I have. So ya, bigger and elegant.

3. Sharp nose and jaw. oooh hottt. They just add guyness to a guy's face. I've always been attracted to sharp features. I guess most people are. But double chins and pudgy faces just turn me off, sorry.

(does this sound crude? 4. Hair - and not just on the head. um. Girls are the ones who should be removing hair and all but it's so weird to see a guy with as little hair as me (and I have quite a lot, I'm Indian). Nobody wants an uricha kozhi. I think this comes with the Indian blood :P This point beats #2)

most important traits/quirks:

1. Sincere. Damn important. Sadly the world today is getting worse in terms of people's personalities. People just talk without meaning what they say and I despise that. My guy cannot be wishy-washy and say things just to please people, but be honest and say everything he means. With this, I'd like to add that he should not be materialistic and run after money, but have appreciation for the simple, joyous things in life like family and friends. And me :D

2. CLEAN. There's a difference between neatness and cleanliness. Even I'm messy sometimes. My table and room is very cluttered. But it's not dirty. I will not find food crumbs or unknown stains in my room coz that's something I just cannot stand. If something gets dirty, it's imperative that it's immediately cleaned up. So I know for sure that I will not be able to put up with a dirty guy. Dirty, sloppy, unkempt, grimy, disgusting - these things badly put me off. And he should respect my sense of cleanliness and follow it coz it's a good thing and I will definitely not give it up. It's next to Godliness vera.

3. Athletic. He doesn't have to be a Hrithik Roshan or Michael Phelps, but someone who knows the meaning of exercise. I can't be hypocritical and expect him to exercise extremely regularly, coz even I don't. But at least once a month. Someone who would enjoy playing tennis/badminton/table tennis/games in general. I cannot stand slobs. If he's a computer-geek, he has to be a hot one :P

4. Intelligent. They always say the guy should have higher qualifications than the girl. I dunno about higher, but at least a Bachelor's degree. And hopefully plans to study more in the future. But more importantly, he should be smart, and have a passion for learning. I don't like it when people are jaded with everything, with no zeal to live and learn, and someone who's always bored with life. There's so much to do and so many things to learn. I think both go hand-in-hand - people who are intelligent will know that "kattradhu kaiyalavu, kallaadhadhu ulagalavu"

5. Even temperament. A guy who knows to joke (and be loosufied), and not take everything seriously. One who's still a child at heart, while being mature. One who can get angry, but won't hold a grudge forever, and doesn't believe in lashing out physically. And since I generally believe in being cheerful, someone who can benefit from it, rather than feel overwhelmed by it. And he should not be overly nice to me, but also tease and make fun, coz to me, that shows more love than just plain empty praising (also, I tease like MAD). So basically a guy who's between a kovakaaran and a spineless jellyfish.

6. Chemistry. We have to feel mutual attraction, to each other's face/body and mind. Not lust. But I don't think I'll be able to live with someone who's face irritates me (people like karunanidhi - I cannot stand his face. moonjiya paaru. yucks.). And I think if physical attraction is not there, creating the next generation will be slightly difficult :P And he and I should be able to share a good rapport and not get bored within 5 minutes of talking. So that would mean mental attraction. We should both be interested in what the other says or does, and respect it.

7. No alcohol, no smoking, no non-veg. I cannot stand all three. It's not just my upbringing (maybe the last one is) but I don't see the point of ruining one's health. And if a guy blatantly destroys himself, then I don't want him. Even if he's perfect otherwise.

yay worked out quite well i think :)
